What are the steps to becoming a property signage expert?

It’s incredible to think we are already nearly halfway through 2026! If you’re anything like me, this is a good time to take stock and think about what the next 6 months will hold.

If running your own business has been on your mind for a while – and I’m guessing it has if you’re reading this – now could be time to seriously consider whether or not you plan to make that happen this year.

It’s a big leap to make, I understand, but the good news is that getting started with Countrywide Signs is a lot simpler than most people assume. Here is exactly what the process looks like from where you are right now:

Step one: do your homework

Have a really good think about whether or not this is the right opportunity for you.

A great place to start, of course, is the Countrywide Signs franchise website where you can see all the key information about what you’ll actually be doing as a franchisee, how the business model works, and all the benefits that come with it.

You might also want to go back and look through all the newsletters I’ve been sending, many of which are a deeper dive into exactly what your life as a business owner with Countrywide Signs will look like. You can see all of them here.

While you’re doing that, think seriously about what you need from a new business – what matters most to you, and what questions you still need answered before you can make a confident decision.

I’m happy to help if you need any advice, which takes us onto:

Step two: jump on a call with me.

There will be things you want to know that you won’t find on a website, and that’s exactly what this call is for.

What this call is definitely NOT for is to sell you this franchise. I’m here to help. My job isn’t to get as many franchisees involved in Countrywide Signs as possible, it’s to encourage the right franchisees. So, no pressure, and no sales pitches – just a straightforward conversation where I can answer your questions honestly and give you a proper feel for whether this is the right fit. If it isn’t, I’ll tell you that, too.

Step three: Book a Discovery Day

Reading about a business is one thing, seeing it in action is something else entirely, which is why a DIscovery Day with Countrywide Signs isn’t about sitting through endless presentation slides. Instead, you’ll be able to visit an existing franchise location and see a franchisee in action, all guided by Martin from the head office team who will be able to answer any questions you have. You’ll have the chance to see how a Countrywide Signs business actually operates, and what you can expect as a business owner.

Step four: get any remaining questions answered

After your visit, we will follow up to go through whatever you still need to discuss. No topic or question is off the table, and by this point you will have enough context to make the conversation really count.

Step five: make your decision, secure your territory, and start planning

That’s it. Once you’re ready to go, we can move pretty quickly if that suits you, locking in your territory and getting your training scheduled so you can hit the ground running.

The whole process is straightforward, and it’s designed to make sure that by the time you make a decision, you are making it with real confidence rather than crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

Move at whatever pace suits you, of course, but there’s no such thing as a bad time to explore your options for the future. Like all good things, opening your own business doesn’t happen overnight, so there really is no time like the present to get the ball rolling.
